Minnesota is given an offer they can’t refuse

As these Kirk Cousins trade rumors have been popping up recently, those who have sources close to the Vikings (including ESPN’s Adam Schefter) have come out and said they haven’t heard anything about the quarterback being on the trade block.

This doesn’t mean Minnesota isn’t willing to listen to offers though. Remember, it was around this time last year when the Vikings repeatedly stated that Stefon Diggs wasn’t going to be traded. But then the Buffalo Bills presented Minnesota with a deal for Diggs that they clearly felt they couldn’t turn down.

The same thing could happen with Cousins this offseason. Given the number of teams that are always in need of a quarterback upgrade each year, there could be one organization that is willing to fork over a little more assets than necessary to acquire the Vikings signal-caller.

If a team comes along and offers Minnesota something like what the Detroit Lions just received from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Matthew Stafford (two first-round picks and a third-round selection), then that is the type of offer that the Vikings might have a hard time declining.

Minnesota has proven in the past that just about any player can be acquired in a trade if they are presented with the right offer and there’s no reason to expect this would be any different when it comes to Cousins this offseason.
