Former Minnesota Vikings receiver Kendall Wright has signed with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts.

During the 2017 season was really when Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs established themselves as the team’s top two wide receivers.

So during the 2018 offseason, the Vikings set out to find someone who could complement this duo, and be the team’s No. 3 receiver on their depth chart. They settled with free-agent Kendall Wright, who was a former first-round pick of the Tennessee Titans.

Unfortunately for Minnesota and Wright, he didn’t end up even making it past the team’s final roster cuts before the start of the 2018 season.

Former Minnesota Vikings receiver giving the CFL a shot

Even though he hasn’t taken a regular-season snap in the NFL since 2017, the 31-year-old Wright is still pursuing a career as a professional football player.

Recently, the former Vikings receiver agreed to a deal to join the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts. If Wright fails to make the Argonauts’ roster, then his football career has likely reached the end.

Currently, Toronto has a total of 20 wide receivers on their roster, including fellow former Minnesota pass-catchers Terrell Sinkfield Jr. and DaVaris Daniels, and former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant. So, grabbing one of the final spots on the Argonauts’ roster certainly isn’t going to be easy for Wright.

A number of former Vikings players have taken their talents north of the border and some have been able to find success. Guys like quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, wide receivers Jake Wieneke and Bralon Addison, linebacker Larry Dean, and defensive back Tre Roberson have all recently spent time with Minnesota and with a team in the CFL.

Will Wright be the next former member of the Vikings to have success in the CFL? If he doesn’t, then it’s probably time for him to hang up his cleats for good.
