Mike Iupati

It seems like every offseason that Mike Iupati appears on the wishlist of Vikings fans but the former four-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro isn’t getting any younger. The number 17 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Iupati will turn 34 in May and has dealt with a large number of injuries over the course of his career.

That doesn’t mean that the left guard won’t be an attractive target in free agency. Last season, Iupati signed a one-year deal to stay with Seattle worth only $2.5M, meaning that if Seattle is to move on that he is likely in the price range of Minnesota.

Iupati is coming off a fantastic year, particularly in terms of blocking. Plugging him in at left guard would not only be an instant upgrade from Dakota Dozier, Dru Samia, or just about any other interior lineman on the foster but it would make things easier for left tackle Riley Reiff and center Garrett Bradbury as well.

Seattle would be smart to attempt to bring him back, but any team that signs Iupati has to know they aren’t signing a long-term answer at a position, but instead someone to help them while they search for those answers.
