Eddie Lacy – RB (2017)

Prior to the 2017 free agency period beginning, the Vikings decided to move on from longtime running back Adrian Peterson. Due to this, one of Minnesota’s top priorities in the 2017 offseason had them attempting to find a new No. 1 running back.

Former Green Bay Packers rusher Eddie Lacy is someone who the Vikings expressed interest in to fill their vacancy. Minnesota and Lacy ended up meeting for two days in the Twin Cities, but no deal was ever reached.

Lacy went on to sign a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks, and looking back on it, the Vikings avoided a disaster. The former Packers running back only appeared in nine games for the Seahawks in 2017 and he finished the season with just 226 total yards and no trips to the end zone. Lacy also hasn’t appeared in another NFL game since the 2017 campaign.

As for Minnesota, they wound up signing free-agent running back Latavius Murray. When Dalvin Cook went down with a torn ACL early in the 2017 season, Murray and fellow Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon helped the team finish with one of the top rushing offenses in the league.
