Marshall Newhouse

It seems like Marshall Newhouse is a free agent just about every offseason, and every time, there’s a contingent who thinks the Vikings should bring him in.

Newhouse started his career with the Green Bay Packers for three seasons and then he went on a tour of the NFL, playing for the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans in 2020.

He’s very well-traveled and he has played in a variety of systems and schemes. Despite the long career and travel miles, the guy is still only 28-years-old and he has plenty of solid football left in him.

Newhouse has good size at 6-foot-4 and 330 pounds. He moves well and he uses his experience to get the upper hand on pass rushers. The guy also brings versatility to the offensive line, having played both guard and tackle at times in his career.

Newhouse could be had at a bargain for the Vikings. He made less than $500,000 a season ago during which he appeared in just four games for the Titans. With Tennessee, he bounced back and forth from the practice squad to the active roster. While he didn’t grade out especially well, perhaps the lack of reps was the reason for that.

He could add depth at every position on the offensive line and his experience would be a welcome addition to the young Vikings’ offensive line.
