Jason Verrett – CB

To say Jason Verrett has been unlucky with injuries since his Pro Bowl season in 2015 would be something of an understatement. The cornerback played six games in four years from 2016 to 2019, which was a substantial blow to what was undoubtedly a promising career at one stage.

Credit to Verrett, he managed to overcome these issues in 2020 and make a return to something like the form of old with the San Francisco 49ers. The former No. 25 overall selection by the Los Angeles Chargers gave up 43 receptions from 63 targets thrown his way, picking up two interceptions, seven passes defended, and 60 tackles in the process.

This resulted in Verrett earning a notable 77.6 grade from Pro Football Focus and the veteran could gain some significant interest in the free-agent market as a result.

The Vikings have their starting cornerback duo of the future locked up in Cameron Dantzler and Jeff Gladney. Considering how much other players on the depth chart struggled, getting in another viable option is a high priority this offseason.

Verrett should definitely enter the discussion after a strong 2020 season, where he managed to appear in 14 games. But teams may be put off by his chequered history when it comes to putting a consistent run of games together.
