5 free-agent cornerbacks the Vikings could sign in 2021

Troy Hill
Troy Hill spent the majority of his career on the outside but found his way once he moved into the slot for the Los Angeles Rams last season. With Jalen Ramsey on the outside, Hill logged 1,107 total snaps including 682 in coverage for the Rams.
While his time on the field doubled his snap count from any of Hill’s previous seasons, the results were solid. Hill ranked 11th by PFF among qualifying corners with 1.03 yards allowed per coverage snap and he limited opponents to a 75.8 passer rating when targeted, the sixth-best mark in the NFL.
With Hill getting it done in the slot and having experience on the outside, the 29-year-old could provide depth for the Vikings at both positions.
The risk is that while he played on the outside for a majority of his five-year career, he never did so at an elite level, ranking 127th (2016), 114th (2017), and 122nd (2018) in yards allowed per coverage snap in his first three full seasons in the NFL.
There’s a chance that Hill could be a late bloomer that may have found his niche and if the Vikings see it that way, this would allow Gladney to continue his development on the outside. With the added bonus of insurance in case of an injury, the Vikings could also find value by signing Hill.
