Trevon Moehrig – S (TCU)

Safety is a huge need for the Minnesota Vikings this year but there won’t be a player worth taking at the 14th pick. If the Vikings swing a deal and move toward the back end of the first round, they could look to fill that hole with this impressive safety prospect from TCU.

The Vikings will be looking for a starter opposite Harrison Smith assuming Anthony Harris leaves in free agency. Trevon Moehrig is a guy who could definitely step in and make an impact from day one. Moehrig has great size at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds with a long lanky frame. He’s got exceptional overall speed and can quickly break on a ball.

He is an instinctive player who often finds himself at the right spot at the right time and has proven to be sticky in coverage with 21 career pass breakups. Moehrig has shown some playmaking ability in his tenure with the Horned Frogs, as he’s forced two fumbles, recovered one, and intercepted an impressive seven passes.

Moehrig appears to have all the tools to be an impact safety in the league and a day one starter for the team that drafts him. If it were the Vikings, he’d be reunited with his former teammate Jeff Gladney and they could build off the chemistry they created in college.
