Another name that warrants consideration if the Vikings are looking for a new tight end this offseason is Gerald Everett. Much like Jonnu Smith, Everett has done well in a limited role during his time with the Los Angeles Rams, and more could be yet to come if he manages to secure a prominent spot elsewhere.

Everett has been a solid, if not spectacular, performer for the Rams since arriving at the organization as a second-round pick in 2017. His efforts last season were the best to date, with the player attaining 41 receptions for 417 receiving yards and one touchdown from seven starts.

He was playing second-fiddle to Tyler Higbee when the No. 1 option was healthy. So there is every chance he could leave the sunshine of Los Angeles for more involvement next time around.

Such a move is not going to cost Minnesota the earth by any stretch of the imagination. If Kyle Rudolph does end up being traded or released in the not-too-distant future, the Vikings could do a lot worse than look in Everett’s direction.

Acquiring someone in the draft is another possible option for the Vikings, but this doesn’t always come with instant success. Considering what’s riding on the 2021 campaign for head coach Mike Zimmer, he might want to go with a player with proven production.
