Harrison Smith – S

As it currently stands, Harrison Smith only has one year left on his contract with the Vikings. It’s possible Minnesota could give him an extension this offseason, but if they don’t, it wouldn’t be shocking if multiple teams attempted to trade for the veteran safety next season.

Even as he heads into his 10th year in the NFL, Smith is still performing at a very high level. Last season, he finished with 89 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and five interceptions.

When the Vikings were in the middle of their poor start last year, they were reportedly open to the idea of dealing Smith before the trade deadline. This would probably happen again if the Vikings stumble out of the gate for the second-straight season.

If Minnesota doesn’t extend Smith this year, it’s possible that he could sign with another team in 2022. So to avoid getting nothing in return for his departure, the Vikings might actually look into dealing him elsewhere before next season’s trade deadline no matter how the beginning of their 2021 campaign turns out.
