Damiere Byrd

This would be the least sexy wide receiver signing that the Vikings could probably make this offseason. But it is one that would add some competition to the receivers room and have a player on the rise join the team.

Damiere Byrd was very unimpressive in his first three NFL seasons with the Carolina Panthers. During that time, he only played in 17 games where he accumulated 12 catches on 20 targets for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Arriving in Arizona helped his career, jumping his numbers to 32 catches for 359 yards and one score.

New England signed Byrd after his stop with the Cardinals and got a lot out of him. He played all 16 games for the Patriots in 2020 and he had career-high numbers in receptions (47) and receiving yards (604), proving that there could be more to him than what fans have seen so far.

Last year, Byrd only made $1.6 million with New England and he could struggle to get a lot of looks with the amount of talent in free agency. If he stays around that price tag, Minnesota should do what they can to swoop him up and see what they can get out of the shifty 28-year-old.
