Teddy Bridgewater could be heading back to a former team

A notable NFL insider recently suggested a trade idea involving former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Life after leaving the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 hasn’t exactly worked out the way in which Teddy Bridgewater had hoped. Bridgewater could probably say this about his entire NFL career though.
After departing from the Vikings during the 2018 offseason, the veteran quarterback wound up signing a contract with the New York Jets. But before he could make it to the 2018 regular season with the Jets, Bridgewater was traded to the New Orleans Saints.
He ended up sticking in New Orleans for both of the 2018 and 2019 campaigns as the backup behind Drew Brees. Then during the 2020 season, the Carolina Panthers decided to give the former Minnesota signal-caller the opportunity to be their starter.
Could Teddy Bridgewater be on his way back to a Minnesota Vikings rival this year?
Bridgewater’s first year with the Panthers didn’t turn out that great and now it sounds like they’re looking to move on from the former Vikings quarterback this offseason.
A release of Bridgewater isn’t something that would be financially smart for Carolina, so they would have to trade him this year if they don’t want him to be on their roster anymore.
So who might be interested in trading for the former Minnesota quarterback? Well, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport recently stated that an “intradivision trade,” that resulted in Bridgewater being dealt to the Saints wouldn’t “shock” him.
That would certainly be something since teams don’t even really like to trade players within their same conference, let alone the same division. But if New Orleans is one of the only teams willing to make a deal for Bridgewater, then the Panthers might not have any other choice if they are truly looking to get rid of him.
The former Vikings quarterback started five games for the Saints in 2019 when Brees was dealing with an injury. During these starts, Bridgewater led New Orleans to a win in each game while throwing for 1,205 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions.
He clearly had success with the Saints in 2019. Would New Orleans be willing to give Bridgewater one more shot to be a starter in the NFL next season?
