Mike Zimmer says his defense can never have enough cornerbacks and there’s no reason to expect him to take a different approach this offseason.
The Vikings have a solid starting cornerback duo of Cameron Dantzler and Jeff Gladney returning for the 2021 campaign. Both should be much improved from their rookie seasons, but it might still be a good idea for Minnesota to look into adding a corner with some more experience.
A.J. Bouye has been in the NFL since 2013 and he’s been a full-time starter since 2016. Bouye had some impressive performances during his tenure with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but his play has regressed a bit in his last two seasons.
Injuries limited him to just seven games in 2020 and he will have to miss the first two matchups of the 2021 season due to a PED suspension.
At 29-years-old, Bouye still has time to turn his career around and remain in the league for a few more seasons. If he’s looking for a coach who can help him extend his time in the NFL, Zimmer is someone who has been known to get the most out of the cornerbacks in his defense.
