Jim McMahon – 1993
He’s the punky QB known as McMahon. If that line brings back some memories for you or you are still singing the Super Bowl Shuffle after reading it, odds are that you’re already quite familiar with the work of Jim McMahon.
The quarterback is a two-time Super Bowl champion who was named to the Pro Bowl in 1985, but shifted over to the Minnesota Vikings for his 12th season in 1993 with an opportunity to beat out Sean Salisbury for the starting gig.
McMahon started 12 games that year, helping the Vikings reach the postseason by leading the team to eight wins. During those games, he racked up 1,968 yards and nine touchdowns with eight interceptions.
For a one-year rental, the Minnesota Vikings could have done much worse than Jim McMahon. It’s a shame he and the team couldn’t work out a deal to keep him wearing purple and gold for at least one more season, but at least they got a taste of the man who can’t dance but can throw the pill.
