Why should the Minnesota Vikings look to move back a few spots in the first round of the NFL Draft?

The Minnesota Vikings finished the 2020 season at a dismal 7-9 and that losing record secured them the 14th choice in the 2021 NFL Draft. The team has plenty of needs on both sides of the ball that they could address with that choice.

On offense, the Vikings have holes on their offensive line, they could use another playmaking wide receiver, and they could stand to upgrade at backup quarterback. On defense, they need to find a starting safety, upgrade the pass rush, and find a disruptive force at defensive tackle.

Minnesota has a lot of choices in this year’s draft to fill those needs and they will be looking to find an impact player at one of those spots with the 14th pick.

While the Vikings will be looking for immediate help, they could also find a player who could contribute to their team next season by picking a little later in the first round. What are some of the reasons why Minnesota might be better off trading away pick No. 14 this year?
