They could draft the same player as they would later

The 2021 NFL Draft is going to be a crazy one. While different sites and analysts are trying to figure out where to rank these prospects, it’s unclear where and when they will come off the board.

Guys who are seen as sure-fire top-15 picks could be found much later in the draft and it’s possible the Vikings could slide down to the back end of the first round and still land the same player they would’ve chosen with the 14th overall selection.

Currently, the players who are the most frequently mocked to the Vikings are former Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore, USC guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, and edge rushers Kwity Paye and Gregory Rousseau.

While many sites and rankings have these players listed as some of the best 15 prospects in the class, there are plenty of others who disagree. It isn’t hard to go to one draft site and see Barmore ranked in the top 20 and then jump to another and see him outside of the top 32 players.

With these rankings all over the map, the chances of Minnesota being able to find one of these players who they covet later in the first round is quite high. They could move down, secure additional picks, and then still get one of the prospects they were targeting with their original choice at pick No. 14.
