Can move down and still fill a major need
The Vikings have plenty of needs as they approach the 2021 NFL Draft. They have to improve their pass rush even after recently signing Stephen Weatherly, they have to find a starting safety, and need to find a guy who can consistently create interior pressure. Those are just the defensive needs. On offense, they have to improve the offensive line, specifically the interior.
Minnesota can definitely do this with the 14th pick. With this choice, the best options appear to be edge rushers and offensive linemen. While they could choose to fill one of those holes, they could also move down the board and address a different need.
The Vikings could make a trade and move down into the 20s. In that range, they may not see top-flight options on the board at edge rusher, but they could instead choose to address another position like safety. This would put them in a prime spot to land former TCU safety Trevon Moehrig, who is widely considered the best in this year’s class. Minnesota could also look to grab a defensive tackle, and perhaps Christian Barmore would still be available.
If the Vikings move to the later portions of round one, they could fill a major hole at guard with a player like Wyatt Davis or take another defensive tackle in Daviyon Nixon, or even Levi Onwuzurike.
5 needs the Minnesota Vikings can hold off drafting in 2021
As the start of the 2021 NFL Draft gets even closer, what are some of the roster needs the Minnesota Vikings can hold off on filling in the draft?
Minnesota has so many needs to fill that they can move down the board in the first round and still address a major one. They don’t have to stand pat at pick No. 14 to find a difference-maker for the 2021 season.
