2020 Team: Tennessee Titans

The last time the Vikings had issues with their kicker, they brought in someone with a historic resume. Dan Bailey didn’t work out, but Minnesota could go back to that well by signing Stephen Gostkowski.

Gostkowski is one of the greatest kickers in NFL history, but he struggled with the Titans last season. The 37-year-old converted a career-low 69.2 percent of his field-goal attempts, but he started to find a rhythm late in the year.

In his final seven games, Gostkowski made his final 32 kicks of the season, including going 3-for-3 with two field goals in a playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. If the first half of the season knocked the rust off, the Vikings could target Gostkowski and get him at a discounted price.

Signing Gostkowski could pay off in the same way as signing 39-year-old Gary Anderson did in 1998. Anderson made every kick that season until… well, you know the rest of the story. But adding another veteran kicker wouldn’t be the worst decision the Vikings could make.
