Daelin Hayes – DE/OLB (Notre Dame)

Getting Danielle Hunter back is going to be a tremendous boost for the Vikings. There are plenty of rumors swirling around regarding the stud defensive end’s unhappiness. But if these issues can be resolved, then Mike Zimmer’s defensive front could be a strong focal point once again with the added benefit of Dalvin Tomlinson and Michael Pierce on the interior.

Despite Stephen Weatherly returning to the fold following a failed campaign with the Carolina Panthers, adding a talented young prospect capable of generating pressure off the edge is a smart avenue to go down over the draft weekend.

Daelin Hayes might not be the most prolific prospect entering from the college ranks this spring, but he has some eye-catching physical traits that seem to fit the mold of what Zimmer normally recruits.

Hayes has the versatility to play with his hand in the dirt or as an outside linebacker. His body already appears NFL-ready and coming from a prestigious program such as Notre Dame all-but ensures he is fully equipped for the professional environment.

The edge rusher has heavy hands that thwart opposing blockers easily and efficiently. Hayes could use some work from a technical perspective to further enhance his credentials. But if the Vikings can acquire him with one of their mid-round selections, it might be worth its weight in gold.
