After the big signings from free agency this year, what are some of the positional needs the Minnesota Vikings should target in the 2021 NFL Draft ?

The Minnesota Vikings headed into free agency with little room to spend. But through some tough cuts and restructures, they were able to create some space. With that money, the team was able to address some of their needs in free agency.

The Vikings filled a huge hole at defensive tackle when they signed former New York Giants defender Dalvin Tomlinson. He’ll be lining up at the three-technique position, and while he isn’t ideally suited for that role, he has done well there in the past.

That move eliminated Minnesota’s need to take a defensive tackle in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft and it opens the door for them to address a different area.

The Vikings also went out and signed future Hall of Fame cornerback Patrick Peterson, who will add some much-needed veteran leadership to the team’s group of young defensive backs. With Peterson now in the mix, it seems unlikely that Minnesota would pull the trigger on a cornerback in the first round of this year’s draft.

They also signed linebacker Nick Vigil, who is expected to compete for a starting role, and his addition probably lowers their chances of going after a linebacker with their top 2021 draft pick.

While these signings likely ruled out some positions the Vikings will target with this year’s first-round pick, there are still a few that are very much a possibility.

What are some of the positional needs Minnesota will probably look to fill during the upcoming NFL Draft after the moves they made during the initial wave of this year’s free agency period?
