Eric Fisher – OT

2020 Team: Kansas City Chiefs

Providing the Vikings can free-up enough funds, making a big splash for someone like Eric Fisher would be worth considering.

The Kansas City Chiefs released the left tackle over an eventful few days that saw their offensive line decimated by sacrifices. It is somewhat surprising that the former No. 1 overall selection has not found a new home as yet.

Fisher would be an instant upgrade on anything Minnesota has following their decision to part ways with Riley Reiff. The Super Bowl champ might be willing to take a little less in the way of salary this year on a short-term deal, with a strong campaign sure to come with a substantial offer next year once the cap situation improves.

There is no doubt Fisher was still playing at a high standard before getting hurt at the worst possible time. Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes missed his blindside protector during their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in pursuit of back-to-back Vince Lombardi trophies last season. So he is well worth a look, providing the price is right.

The Vikings have spent the majority of free agency bolstering their defensive options, which is understandable. Their priorities must now shift to the offensive line, and if they can bring in the right sort of pieces to improve protection, then a playoff return won’t be far behind.
