Fourth Round (Pick No. 119) – Kendrick Green, G – Illinois

As previously mentioned, Ben Cleveland could need a little work before he is ready to be inserted into a starting lineup. For that reason, adding another interior lineman can’t hurt one bit, especially if that player is Kendrick Green.

Green will surprise people with his quickness off the snap. His six-foot-four, 315-pound frame makes him an ideal candidate to be plugged in at left guard as a pass-blocker to show off his quick feet, ability to get to the next level, and play awareness.

Minnesota’s struggles last year weren’t in the run game, but in protecting Kirk Cousins from the pass rush. His experience at left guard and center adds some versatility in the event of an injury to Garrett Bradbury, but shouldn’t be asked to do much else in the Vikings blocking scheme.

The Vikings’ track record for selecting offensive linemen is not good, so taking multiple players in that unit during the 2021 NFL Draft is wise. Rick Spielman has success when casting a wide net at other positions and it would nice to see the team hit on a lineman in this draft.
