With Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney recently being accused of assaulting a woman, it’s time the team thinks about finding his replacement.
There is no excuse for the crimes that Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney is currently being accused of after he allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old woman last Friday.
The details of the alleged assault are disgusting and the Vikings referred to them as “extremely disturbing,” in a statement they released on Monday. There is no place for someone who allegedly commits a crime like this on Minnesota’s roster.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Vikings decided to release Gladney within the next few days because of this incident. If they do, then Minnesota has to figure out who will replace him on their current roster.
Gladney’s role for next season was already unclear after the free-agent signings of Patrick Peterson and Mackensie Alexander this year. Even if he didn’t end up winning a starting job, the Vikings likely would’ve found a way to get their 2020 first-round pick on the field during each matchup of their 2021 schedule.
So let’s just assume Gladney would have been Minnesota’s No. 4 cornerback next season. Who are some of the players from the Vikings’ own roster, free agency, and the upcoming NFL Draft that could potentially be who the team would pick to replace Gladney this year?
