Jevon Holland – S, Oregon

The Vikings lost Anthony Harris in free agency as expected, but they were able to find a temporary replacement in Xavier Woods. That was a solid move as Woods is more than a capable player, but the team still needs to find a long-term solution at the position. The chances are very high they use one of their third-round choices on the position and would love to see this Oregon Duck sitting on the board.

Versatility is the name of Holland’s game. He can play the deep field or even line up as a nickel cornerback, as he’s got great coverage skills. He isn’t going to lay the wood like some other safeties in this class but is a more than capable tackler. He is extremely smart and can predict where a play is going to go, getting himself in a great position to make a play. His ball-hawking ability will be extra attractive to the Vikings, as they’ve struggled to make game-changing interceptions the last couple of seasons.

Holland did sit out the 2020 season to prepare for the draft so there could be some rust on him. With Xavier Woods on the roster, that isn’t such a big issue. Holland can be brought along slowly, used on special teams, and then take over the starting gig in 2021.
