Landon Dickerson – G (Alabama)

Coming into the 2021 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings are in desperate need of some offensive linemen. They still need to find a starter as well as add some depth and competition at multiple spots. However, they may want to hold off on picking Landon Dickerson.

Dickerson is ranked at 69 on the CBS Sports list of prospect rankings, but taking him with Minnesota’s second selection in the entire draft would be a massive gamble considering some of the red flags surrounding the 6’6, 325-pound lineman.

Although he played college football for five years, four of those campaigns were cut short due to injury, including two torn ACLs and ankle surgeries. Multiple surgeries and ailments can take a toll on a player’s body and isn’t a good sign for a player who needs to be physically tough on a consistent basis.

If not for health concerns, Dickerson could be a top pick, but he’s just too risky for a team that needs to hit on their early picks due to not having a second-round selection. Even if the ceiling would be lower with another prospect, the Vikings need a player with a higher floor.
