Jayson Oweh – DE (Penn State)

On the surface, there is a lot to love about Jayson Oweh. He’s a natural athlete who has the finesse, tenacity, and size of a basketball player that produced well early in his college football career to open the eyes of everyone.

2018 saw him get two sacks in his first two games. He followed that up by getting five sacks in his 11 games. Then, something strange happened and the pass rusher was blanked in 2020 and failed to register a single sack.

Right now, Oweh is the number 33 prospect on CBS Sports’ prospect rankings and there are some reasons to defend his placement there are others to question why he is so highly respected among draft analysts.

With some work, he could become an excellent pass rusher, but drafting him as early as the end of the first round seems like a huge reach. The potential is there. However, the high ceiling comes with a very low floor as a number of hurdles could keep him from realizing his potential.
