Possible Trade Offer

  • Vikings get
    • Brandon Scherff
    • Washington’s 2021 second-round pick (No. 51)
  • Washington gets
    • Minnesota’s 2021 first-round pick (No. 14)

In addition to needing to find a new starting left tackle for next season, the Vikings also need to figure out who will be starting for them at both left and right guard in 2021.

Minnesota’s current selection in this year’s NFL Draft is in an intriguing spot. At pick No. 14, the Vikings are slotted right around where other teams around the league could call to move up in the draft to land a top prospect who might have fallen down the board.

If a top quarterback is still on the board as Minnesota’s first-round selection approaches, Washington could be a team that attempts to make a deal with the Vikings to acquire the No. 14 pick.

Instead of asking for Washington’s first-round pick (No. 19) in return though, Minnesota could just request that Washington’s All-Pro right guard, Brandon Scherff, be included in the trade.

So instead of possibly gambling on a guard prospect with the No. 14 pick, the Vikings could just use this selection to trade for one of the best guards in the NFL. It’s a move that would immediately improve Minnesota’s offensive line for next season.
