Minnesota will have a new wide receiver by the end of the day
We already know the Vikings have a dynamic pass-catching duo with Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen. But behind these two on the depth chart is where things begin to get a bit sketchy.
If Jefferson or Thielen has to miss any time next season, Minnesota is currently looking at either Chad Beebe or Olabisi Johnson stepping in to be their No. 2 receiver. Not exactly a pair of players that cause much panic in opposing defenses.
To improve this situation, the Vikings will use one of their picks from the second day of the 2021 draft on a new wide receiver. If they’re lucky, they’ll be able to land a new pass-catcher who can also be the team’s punt or kick returner next season.
6 biggest Vikings draft steals during the Mike Zimmer era
Who are the top players that fell into the laps of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL Draft since Mike Zimmer was hired in 2014?
Five wide receivers were drafted in the first round on Thursday, but there is still plenty of talent left from the position group that Minnesota should be able to choose from on Friday. Guys like Elijah Moore, Terrace Marshall Jr., D’Wayne Eskridge, and Rondale Moore would all be great additions to the Vikings 2021 roster.
