Trevon Moehrig – S (TCU)

Trevon Moehrig was widely considered to be the best safety in the 2021 NFL Draft, and after the first round, he’s still on the board. The Vikings definitely need an upgrade at the safety position and moving up in the second round to acquire Moehrig makes a ton of sense.

Minnesota added Xavier Woods in free agency this year, and while he can be a decent stop-gap option, he shouldn’t be looked at as the answer as he had his share of struggles in his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys. Moehrig is a complete safety prospect who can cover, come up and support the run, and he has tremendous ball skills.

Sometimes he can be a little too aggressive and that can lead to missed tackles. But the guy is a playmaker who would probably be able to make an impact and surpass Woods on the depth chart at some point in his rookie season.

Moehrig has to be seen as one of the best players left on the board after the first round. If the Vikings want to bring him into the fold, they’ll have to package a plethora of their third and fourth-round picks to move into the second round and get him. But his talent and playmaking ability would make a move like that well worth it.
