The Minnesota Vikings wrapped up their 2021 NFL Draft on Saturday, but the moves did not stop there.
After what some would call a successful 2021 NFL Draft for the Minnesota Vikings, they quickly shifted their focus to the undrafted free agents that were available.
Each year, UDFA guys sneak through the cracks, whether it be for medical reasons or something else, and they find a way to make an impact on NFL rosters.
We all know the story of Adam Thielen and his rise up the ranks for the Vikings. While his story is impressive, it should not be the expectation for anyone who takes that route to the NFL.
Instead, teams are just looking for players who can make an impact on special teams or maybe in a larger role without costing the team a lot of money or draft picks.
Minnesota filled the majority of its remaining needs in this draft, but these undrafted signings are a chance to add depth and practice squad talent. Worst case, the players signed after the draft will be extra bodies in camp that will push everyone to earn their playing time.
To be quite honest, the Vikings probably narrowed their list of UDFA targets in the early stages of Day 3 and made calls to those players to lock them up in case they were not selected. That’s the beauty of the business.
Let’s take a look at some of the early undrafted free agents that are reportedly heading to Minnesota to fight for a job in the NFL.
