Dru Samia – OG
Dru Samia’s performances last season when he saw the field were lackluster, to put it mildly. The interior lineman looked like a deer in the headlights at times, and there wasn’t a great deal of confidence that he could be anything more than a rotational piece at best, judging by what we saw from him in 2020.
This was further reflected in Samia’s pathetic 33.1 grade from Pro Football Focus, which might not be the gospel when it comes to this sort of thing, but it is a strong indicator that much more will be needed if the young blocker wants to carve out a career in the NFL.
This year, the Vikings drafted guard Wyatt Davis in the third round, and they would be wise to throw the former Ohio State standout in at the deep end next season.
Ezra Cleveland should occupy Minnesota’s other starting guard spot, so Samia might be one of those seeking alternative employment when it’s all said and done.
