Bisi Johnson – WR
There were high hopes for Bisi Johnson heading into the 2020 season. The wide receiver showed glimpses of promise and there did appear to be a real opening for more targets after Stefon Diggs was traded to the Buffalo Bills and replaced by first-round pick Justin Jefferson.
To say things did not go according to plan for Johnson would be something of an understatement. He was a relative afterthought in the passing game thanks in no small part to Jefferson taking the NFL by storm during his rookie campaign. This is a huge offseason for Johnson as he looks to make a better go of things next time around.
Minnesota decided to keep Chad Beebe around this year, who looks set to assume command of the slot receiver role. The team also brought in a couple of promising rookies in Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Whop Philyor. So Johnson might have difficulty making the 53-man roster if his performances aren’t of a high standard in OTAs, training camp, and the preseason.
This would be immensely disappointing for the former seventh-round pick. However, the simple fact of the matter is there was a big opportunity awaiting Johnson last season that he was unable to make the most of, and he might pay the price as a result.
If this scenario does play out, then Johnson will only have himself to blame.
