4 Vikings cuts before the 2021 season that would surprise no one

Cameron Smith – LB
As was the case for many people around the world, 2020 was a scary year for Vikings linebacker Cameron Smith.
After testing positive for COVID-19 last year, Smith underwent additional tests that resulted in doctors finding a defect in his heart. The Minnesota linebacker then had to undergo open-heart surgery, which, unsurprisingly, caused him to miss the entire 2020 season.
Miraculously, Smith was already back on the field with the Vikings earlier this week when they held their first three OTA practice sessions of the year.
Unfortunately for him though, Minnesota has added a few more talented linebackers to their roster during the last couple of months. In free agency, the Vikings signed former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Nick Vigil, and then during the recent NFL Draft, Minnesota selected former North Carolina linebacker Chazz Surratt in the third round.
It will be interesting to see how many linebackers the Vikings decide to keep on their final 2021 roster. If it ends up being eight or less, then it might result in Smith being shown the door.
