It isn’t just starters that make a team great. The Minnesota Vikings can’t ignore these role players who could make a big difference in the future.

There has been a lot of talk about the contracts of star players and the possibility of signing new players now that the Minnesota Vikings have a little extra salary cap to throw around thanks to the finalization of Kyle Rudolph being released.

Although the purple and gold have used some of that money to bring in cornerbacks Tye Smith and Brashod Breeland in efforts to solidify their secondary, there are several players who are currently on the roster who should see some love in the form of a contract extension after being a bit overlooked.

Whether these players contribute in a small way on offense or defense or find their niche on special teams, the Vikings need to make sure they keep many of their role players around as they fill in the starters and higher-profile backups.

Let’s take a look at four role players for the Minnesota Vikings might be wise to lock down on a contract extension as the team heads into the 2021 NFL season to prepare for future years of being competitive.
