4 Vikings players who could emerge as alphas in 2021
By Dean Jones
Justin Jefferson – WR
The 2020 season was a phenomenal breakout for Justin Jefferson.
What comes next could be even better.
It’s fair to say the Vikings struck gold when they took the former LSU star in the first round last year. Jefferson was nothing short of a revelation throughout the campaign, displaying the sort of big-game ability that has seen his stock rise to one of the league’s best young wide receivers after just one year at the next level.
Teams will have more of an idea on how to limit Jefferson in 2021. Whether they can do it or not is another matter entirely.
With Adam Thielen not getting any younger, the onus will be on Jefferson to fully emerge as the team’s leading option in the passing game in pursuit of surpassing some lofty numbers last time around.
He is an elite, explosive athlete that can hurt an opposing defense in so many different ways, but it’s vital Minnesota and their new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak puts him in the right spots.
A 1,500-yard receiving season is a realistic target for Jefferson in 2021. He’ll have more of a bullseye on his back than ever before, but this could just be further motivation for the player to take the NFL by storm once again and help the Vikings make an instant return to the postseason.
