What to expect from Breeland in 2021

Although Minnesota could feel comfortable with starting Patrick Peterson and Cameron Dantzler in 2021, Bashaud Breeland’s experience will likely win out, and the youngster will be able to learn from two NFL veterans with a history of being able to perform at a high level.

Breeland will frustrate the team at times with penalties next season. But his impressive coverage skills will be on display as long as the Vikings can generate a strong pass rush to limit the amount of time the secondary has to work against opposing offenses.

One thing not to expect is a batch of interceptions. Breeland has never really been a ball hawk in his career, although he is usually good for a couple of picks each year. Instead, look for pass breakups to be the most common statistic behind tackles, as he has 81 pass deflections in 94 games played.

As a whole, Minnesota’s defense should look more complete with Breeland in it. The experienced corner has seen it all and he is ready to do it again, this time in a purple and gold jersey. If he and Peterson can play close to their potentials, this defense could be exceptional in 2021.
