Availability: Would need to be acquired in a trade

We already know all about the Vikings’ love for cornerbacks since Mike Zimmer has been the team’s head coach. But in 2022, Minnesota could be in need of some serious help for their secondary.

The majority of the top guys on the Vikings’ cornerback depth chart are only under contract with the team until the end of the 2021 season. So it’s very possible that Minnesota could be in need of some new corner talent in 2022.

If this ends up being the case, why not go after arguably the best cornerback in the NFL? Xavien Howard is looking to get a pay increase from the Miami Dolphins in the near future. But if he doesn’t get it, it’s possible that he could wind up on the trade block.

If Zimmer is still the Vikings head coach in 2022, count them in the potential fight to acquire Howard. Especially if Patrick Peterson, Mackensie Alexander, and Bashaud Breeland all decide to not return to Minnesota after the upcoming season when their contracts expire.
