Michael Pierce – DT

It may be surprising to see a guy who hasn’t played a snap yet with the Vikings be named to their most explosive defensive players list, but Michael Pierce could be sitting on the precipice of a huge season.

This guy sat out last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and he clearly has regrets about that decision. It killed him to watch his team get blown out in games and see his defense become one of the worst in the league.

Pierce released a workout clip a few months ago that showed him preparing for the 2021 season. In the clip, he’s running with a giant medicine ball and chucks it with all his might at the wall.

It’s easy to see the passion and determination he has to be great in this short vid, and also the motivation to get back on the field and back to work. He is hungry to prove his worth to his new team and he should be ready to dominate.

Pierce is 6-feet, 340 pounds, and he is as powerful as an ox. There isn’t a single offensive lineman in the league who can shut him down and with Dalvin Tomlinson next to him and Sheldon Richardson working in on a rotation, double teams won’t be coming often.

Pierce will power through the middle of offensive lines, causing a ruckus and clogging up running lanes, easily becoming one of the most explosive players on the Vikings’ defense.
