— WILD CARD —

The NFL is a pretty crazy place and things can change really quickly. Right now, it looks like the kicking job for the Minnesota Vikings is down to either Greg Joseph or Riley Patterson with the winner to be determined based on their performances leading up to final cuts.

That could be the case, but never count out a wild card. A surprise cut by another team could be enough to draw the interest of the Vikings and have them sign a new kicker to be the favorite in the competition.

Another possibility is Minnesota trading for an established kicker if they aren’t impressed with what the kickers currently on the roster bring to the table. Giving up draft equity while taking on more salary cap would be a bit surprising, but if the team is serious about being contenders they might see this as a possibility.

The chances of the Minnesota Vikings taking this route with their kicker are extremely low. Still, if one of the top kickers in the league becomes available and wouldn’t hurt the team too much to bring in, it would hard to turn that down.

Which of these options do you thank the Minnesota Vikings will go with heading into the 2021 NFL season? And are you rooting for one of these contenders more than another? Let us know in the comments.
