The collective sigh of relief within the Vikings’ fan base was deafening when Danielle Hunter and the organization patched up their differences earlier this offseason.

Even though the defensive end is coming off a serious neck injury that forced him to miss the entire 2020 campaign, there is a real sense of optimism he can hit the ground running and return to the form of old.

Fortunately, Hunter will now get a full training camp under his belt, which looked in some doubt not so long ago. The Vikings were right to air on the side of caution where the former LSU man’s desire for a new contract is concerned. But that’s not to say they won’t be more than happy to pay him this time next year if his elite numbers return and there are no further injury problems.

Minnesota is counting on Hunter to deliver the goods. Their inability to generate pressure in opposing backfields was telling last season, and if the same happens in 2021, it’s going to make things difficult in pursuit of postseason football once again.

Hunter certainly looks the part judging by offseason workout videos that surfaced on social media. Expect the edge rusher to be a driving force throughout camp and one everyone will be keeping a close eye on.
