Dalvin Tomlinson – DT

Acquiring a difference-maker like Dalvin Tomlinson to boost the defensive front was a significant coup by the Vikings. Especially when one considers how tight things were financially for the organization in free agency.

The defensive tackle is a commanding presence on the interior that can make things happen at the drop of a hat. Tomlinson was a stout presence against the run and also showed enough capability to generate pressure when the opportunities arose during his time with the New York Giants.

Couple this with the return of Michael Pierce from opting out and Minnesota’s tackle tandem could be an area of real strength once again.

There is an excitement to see just what Tomlinson is capable of with the pads on at training camp. One thing that is sure to stand out is the player’s athleticism, which is eye-catching for a man his size.

With seven sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 19 quarterback hits, and 28 pressures over the last two seasons, Tomlinson’s presence in Minnesota could reap instant rewards. The Vikings were nothing short of pathetic on defense for the most part last season, which won’t be the case in 2021 after some quality additions and big-time playmakers returning to the fold.
