Whop Philyor – WR

Having multi-purpose offensive weapons that can do it all seems to be all the rage in today’s NFL. The more a player can do, the better their chances are, after all.

The Vikings didn’t have anyone like this on their roster in 2020. Although he failed to hear his name called during the draft, there is a lot to like about Whop Philyor’s chances of making the team with an impressive training camp.

Philyor was a dynamic wide receiver at Indiana who did his best work out of the slot. Coincidentally, this is one area of the field where the Vikings have some problems from a production standpoint.

Every leading contender needs a player like Philyor. He might be a little undersized, but the wideout more than makes up for this with eye-catching elusiveness and the potential to break off big yardage if gaps arrive.

The Vikings could also use Philyor as a running back or even during kick returns if they choose. Not a bad luxury to have depending on how the player adjusts in the coming weeks.

There isn’t any immediate pressure on Philyor to make a difference, which should help. But don’t be surprised if the playmaker lights up camp enough to not only make the team but also generate some targets during his rookie campaign.
