Justin Jefferson sends a strong message to his doubters
By Adam Patrick
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson took to Twitter on Tuesday to make sure his doubters know they are still motivating him this year.
After he hauled in 111 passes for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns in his final college season at LSU, most figured Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson would eventually emerge as one of the top pass-catchers in the NFL.
Few, however, thought Jefferson‘s entrance into the league’s top receiver discussion would already happen after just one season in the NFL.
But after accumulating 88 catches for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns in 2020, more have begun to realize how talented the Vikings wide receiver actually is.
Justin Jefferson ready to prove people wrong in his second year with the Minnesota Vikings
As the 2021 season quickly approaches, what sort of performance will Jefferson have during his second year with Minnesota after his magical rookie campaign?
With how well he played last season, some are anticipating the young Vikings receiver to get a lot more attention from opposing defenses this year.
If this ends up happening, it might result in Jefferson putting up lower numbers than what he finished with in 2020. A decrease in production for the Minnesota pass-catcher this year feels like a believable scenario for some just based on how high he set the bar last season.
Well, Jefferson has apparently been made aware of those who have been predicting his production to decrease in 2021. With a post on his Twitter account on Tuesday, the Vikings receiver made sure his doubters know they are helping him prepare for the upcoming season.
Jefferson was already motivated by all of the teams who passed on him in the 2020 NFL Draft and by getting snubbed for last season’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
So now he has even more motivation to go out and surpass the impressive numbers he finished with last year. It sounds like Jefferson is ready to make life extremely difficult for any defender who tries to cover him next season.
The second-year wide receiver is one of multiple Vikings offensive players to achieve success after using their doubters as motivation. Guys like Dalvin Cook, Kirk Cousins, and Adam Thielen have all spent a good chunk of their pro careers going out and proving people wrong.
After setting numerous rookie receiving records in 2020, it seems like Jefferson has even bigger plans for himself during the upcoming season.
