The Jefferson Effect

Justin Jefferson became an instant star this past season after being selected by the Vikings in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The receiver out of LSU is similar to Diggs in his playstyle, such as his big-play ability, route running, and exceptional ability to catch the ball in traffic (Diggs had a 59.1 contested catch rate percentage in 2020, Jefferson had a rate of 58.3).

Besides having an immediate impact on locker room morale and the league, Jefferson has seriously replaced Diggs on the field as well. His 1,400 receiving yards in 2020 were more than Diggs had in any season as a Viking.

Minnesota is poised to have a very successful 2021 campaign. While the Bills have had the more immediate success following the trade, the Vikings are better built for the long run.
