Jordan Hicks – LB (Arizona Cardinals)

The situation surrounding Jordan Hicks and the Arizona Cardinals is a strange one.

His level of production hasn’t been the worst in the world by any stretch of the imagination over the last two seasons. But his chances of earning meaningful reps next season appear bleak as the team moves forward with rookie Zaven Collins and second-year player Isaiah Simmons.

This leaves Hicks facing the prospect of being traded or even cut before competitive action begins in 2021. Although teams might be a little skeptical about giving up draft capital to bring the player on board, there appears little doubt he’ll be a hot commodity on the waiver wire if the Cardinals opt to cut their losses entirely.

Hicks has the versatility to play on the interior or as an outside linebacker should the opportunity arise. This is an area of the field that disintegrated where the Vikings are concerned when Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks went down with injuries, so the former Texas standout would be a significant backup option, at the very least.

Minnesota could use another veteran linebacker to assist Kendricks, even though they have rookie Chazz Surratt to fill in when needed.

However, if the Vikings are in win-now mode as expected, picking up Hicks if released would be a big statement of intent.
