Janarius Robinson – DE
Once considered an area of significant strength, generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks became an ongoing problem for the Vikings in 2020.
Much of this had to do with the injury to Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen deciding to take his chances elsewhere in free agency, but Mike Zimmer does not want the same complications to emerge once again in pursuit of an instant return to the postseason.
This was something the Vikings addressed during the 2021 NFL Draft, acquiring some athletic edge rushers who might be able to make a difference right out of the gate. One such player is Janarius Robinson, who comes to the organization with some likable athletic traits that can be developed into something more in the coming months.
The former Florida State standout drew comparisons to Brian Burns during his time in college, who is set for superstardom with the Carolina Panthers in the not-too-distant future. Although this is a lofty goal to aim for, Robinson does look like someone who could do some real damage if allowed to develop at his own pace.
There shouldn’t be a significant amount of pressure on Robinson, providing veteran players remain healthy. This is something he can use to his advantage and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him utilized as a situational edge rusher when the opportunities arise.
