5. Kirk Cousins – QB

It would be very concerning to not have a team’s quarterback be in their top-five fantasy options. This is not just a token placement for Kirk Cousins though. He has proved to be one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL. When Cousins gets going, he has full control of the Vikings offense and allows the unit to run on all cylinders.

Cousins was a top-10 fantasy quarterback from Week 4 to Week 17 last year. Justin Jefferson being fully immersed in the offense gave the quarterback all the weapons he needed to produce, and produce he did.

Minnesota had the fourth-most offensive yards in the NFL last season with Cousins starting under center. On play-action pass plays, Cousins threw for 1,286 yards, good enough for fifth in the NFL last year. His play-action passing ability is one of the biggest strengths of his game and it accounted for 30 percent of his passing yards in 2020.

The Vikings will see the continued success of the run game, the efficiency of Cousins off of play-action, the reliability of Adam Thielen, and the emergence of both Jefferson and Irv Smith Jr. as serious playmakers during the upcoming season.

That being said, Minnesota will have a swiss army knife attack on offense in 2021, with multiple playmakers to take on the opposing defense. It will be the most diverse Vikings offense in years.

There will be plenty of points scored by Minnesota’s offense in 2021, and plenty of fantasy points to go around for the playmakers in purple.
