For the most part, the Minnesota Vikings had great attendance for the first day of training camp. Rookies, veterans, and even injured players showed up to get a workout or meet with the team to prepare for the upcoming season.

According to Ben Goessling, there was only one player missing from the Wednesday workouts but each of those is quite an interesting story that could have some major ramifications moving forward.

The notable absence is Jeff Gladney. He is expected to be in Texas on Thursday to meet with a Grand Jury about a legal issue stemming from an alleged altercation with his girlfriend at the time. The timetable for his return to be with the team is unknown.

On the other hand, rookie kicker Riley Patterson worked out on the sideline by riding the stationary bike. He is currently on the team’s Physically Unable to Perform list with an undisclosed ailment and if he is forced to miss more time during training camp, his chances of beating out Greg Joseph for the Vikings kicking job might slip away.

Which of these takeaways have you the most excited or concerned about heading into the 2021 NFL season? And what else do you feel was notable about Day 1? Let us know your opinion in the comments!
