Pass rushers? We Wonnum all!

Yes, that’s a terrible pun. However, any chance the Minnesota Vikings can get to add some potential pass-rushing with this new-look secondary should be welcomed and encouraged if the team wants to be successful this year.

Friday’s training camp saw D.J. Wonnum moving from the defensive end spot to play some snaps at linebacker with the first team as both a pass rusher and drop in coverage. This would be a huge boost to the team if he can develop into a contributor that way.

At the moment, the competition for who will start in that third linebacker spot is wide open. Adding Wonnum to that competition would be very interesting considering his physical abilities and current skill set.

This experiment will be something to watch as camp continues, but having another toy for Mike Zimmer to move around would surely keep opposing offenses on their toes and not allow them to get comfortable with any protection schemes.
