New accusations could end Jeff Gladney’s career with Vikings
By Adam Patrick
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney is now being sued by the woman who he allegedly assaulted back in April.
After selecting Justin Jefferson with their first pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings still had another selection to make in the opening round of the draft. With their second pick, Minnesota decided to select former TCU cornerback Jeff Gladney.
While his rookie season wasn’t as historic as Jefferson’s, Gladney still displayed some flashes of potential during his first year with the Vikings.
A few months after his rookie campaign with Minnesota came to a close, the young cornerback, unfortunately, found himself in the middle of a situation that has the potential to end his tenure with the Vikings after only one season.
Minnesota Vikings Jeff Gladney sued for $1 million by alleged assault victim
Gladney is currently waiting to find out if he will be indicted of felony assault after allegedly assaulting a woman in early April. However, he was recently slapped with a civil lawsuit by the woman he allegedly assaulted that is seeking at least $1 million in damages.
According to the lawsuit that was acquired by USA TODAY Sports, Gladney is accused of committing multiple inexcusable acts in addition to the alleged assault.
Some of the new details from the lawsuit include the Minnesota cornerback allegedly assaulting the female victim for more than two hours, slamming the victim’s head on the dashboard of his vehicle, pulling off the freeway multiple times to assault the victim while stopped at red lights, attempting to bribe the victim to keep quiet after the incident with a $1,000 necklace and a gift certificate to a spa, and showing up at the victim’s home less than two weeks ago to force her to delete text messages and screenshots of text messages.
Gladney has not been in attendance at any of the Vikings training camp practices this summer, and he was also absent from the team’s OTAs and minicamp earlier this year.
